Maritta is one of the best Teec Nos Pos weavers. Without getting too detailed, Maritta's sisters include Bertha Frank, Lavena Tom and Irene Hollie, sisters-in-law are Cora Tom and Laura Tom, her mother is Nellie Tom and aunt is Jessie George, grandmothers are Mary Poyer and Alice Thomas, and cousins include Sarah, Cecelia and Celina George. Maritta was known for many years by her previous husband's name (Joe) but is now remarried to Danny Clyde. She has one child; a boy named Daniel born in February 1993. Maritta's weavings exhibit the classic Teec Nos Pos patterns with rich deep colors. Occasionally she will create pieces in neutral colors or unusual designs, but most often her work is classic Teec. Theda Bassman has published her work in the book "Treasures of the Navajo."
