The Bitsuie family of weavers consists of Lorene, her sisters Linda, Esther and Marie as well as their mother Ruth, from whom they all learned the basics of weaving. All weave in the Burnham regional style. Lorene's pieces are usually woven mostly with processed wool that has been re-spun, but often they include handspun natural wool as well. Her textiles are noted for their intricate designs incorporating many different elements which she claims have special significance in her life. Many of these elements in her designs (Kokopelli - bear fetish - pots) come from her sister Marie. Marie in turn got them from the Navajo artist Bobby Johnson, with whom Marie lived prior to his untimely death. Lorene frequently 'signs' her weavings with her initials LB woven into the border of the textile Lorene's brother Herman Bitsuie is married to Lorene Barber, who is the daughter of Anna Mae Barber. Anna Mae is considered the matriarch of the Burnham style. Bobby Johnson was Anna MaeÕs nephew.

Her work has been published in Focus Santa Fe and other Publications
