Ruby is one of the best known of the miniature basket weavers; she has been working with the fine horsehair for most of her life, and has won numerous awards. She learned to weave from her mother using yucca and beargrass, but for quite some time she has concentrated on miniature baskets woven from horsehair. Ruby's designs range from the traditional Man-in-the-Maze to unique landscape scenes, and from plates to bowls. She typically takes her time with her work, and creates very fine, detailed baskets. Ruby is married and has several children. Her sister Dorina Garcia is also a miniature basket weaver.
